Privacy Policy — FamilyWala
FamilyWala was formerly called Family Traditions Tree. Wherever these pages say FamilyWala, they mean the same app.
Last updated: October 19, 2026
FamilyWala ("the app," "we," "us") is made by RAJ CREATIONS LLC. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it.
The short version: this app exists to hold your family's private photos, recordings, and stories. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and everything you save is visible only to the family members you choose to share it with — nobody else, including us, browses it.
1. Who this app is for
FamilyWala accounts are for adults (18 and older). A parent or guardian can add a child's profile to the family tree — their name, photo, birth year, and stories about them — but a child never gets their own account, and the app is not directed at children. If you're adding a family member who is a minor, you're confirming you have the right to do so on their behalf.
2. What we collect
To create your account:
- You can start without giving us anything beyond your age confirmation — a "guest" tree with no phone number at all.
- Once you're ready to invite a family member, or want your account recoverable if you lose this device, we collect a phone number, used to sign in and to send verification codes. It's never used for anything else, and we never sell or share it, except as described in Section 4 for an invitation you send.
- The language you choose.
What you add to your family tree:
- Names, relationships, birth years, and how you refer to each relative in your own words.
- Optionally, a person's gender (female or male). It is used only to say relationships correctly, such as brother-in-law or mother-in-law. You can leave it unset, and a person who has joined sets their own.
- Photos, videos, and voice recordings you upload — of yourself, of relatives, or of memories you're recording.
- The text of any story, recipe, or message you write or record.
To make sharing work:
- The phone number or email you enter when inviting someone.
- Who you've chosen to share a specific memory or profile with, and who has and hasn't seen it yet.
- Requests to connect with another family member and whether they were accepted, and short notices such as "someone joined your family tree".
- Which messages you have hidden from your own screens, and which you have deleted (see Section 6).
Automatically, to run the service:
- Your device's push-notification token, so we can tell you when a relative shares something (you can turn this off in your device settings). Notices are sent through Expo's push notification service and then Apple's or Google's, and contain only a short line such as "someone shared a memory with you".
- A small anonymous count of which language was chosen on the welcome screen. It is not linked to you, your device or your network address.
- Basic technical logs (timestamps, error reports) generated by Cloudflare, the infrastructure provider running the app's servers — these aren't tied to advertising and we don't use them to build a profile of you.
If you subscribe for extra storage:
- Apple or Google handles your payment directly — we never see your card details. We receive only what you subscribed to, whether it's active, and when it renews or ends, through Apple's and Google's official notification systems.
3. What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone.
- We don't run advertising, and we don't share your information with ad networks.
- We don't read or browse your family's memories. They're visible to the app's systems only as far as needed to store, deliver, and back them up.
- We don't use your photos, voice, or video to train any AI model.
4. Who can see what you share
By default, a memory you save is private to you until you choose to share it — with your whole family tree, or with specific people. Some information (like a birth parent recorded separately from who's shown as your parent in the tree, or a stepfamily relationship) is private by default even from the rest of the tree, visible only to the people you explicitly share it with.
Whoever you invite to join a person's profile or a shared memory can see what you've shared with them. If someone hasn't joined yet, we hold their phone number or email only to deliver the invitation.
When you connect with another family. When someone accepts your invitation, or accepts your request to connect (or you accept theirs), each of you joins the other's family tree and you can each see the other's whole family: names, photos and how people are related. Your memories are still shared only with the people you choose. A request you decline is never announced to the person who sent it. You can leave a connected family tree at any time from Settings; you then stop seeing each other's families.
5. Where your information is stored
Your photos, videos, and voice recordings are stored using Cloudflare's object storage; the family tree structure, names, and messages are stored in Cloudflare's database service. Both are encrypted in transit between your device and our servers. Cloudflare operates a global network; we don't currently commit to a single storage region.
6. How long we keep it
We keep what you save for as long as your account is active. If you close your account:
- You have 90 days to change your mind, during which nothing is deleted and you can export everything first.
- After 90 days (or immediately, if you choose "Delete everything now"), your memories, your own profile, and your account are permanently deleted.
If you delete a single message you wrote, it disappears for everyone it was shared with right away. We keep it for 30 days so you can bring it back, and then it and its files are permanently deleted. Hiding a message written by someone else only removes it from your own screens; the person who wrote it, and everyone else, still see it.
- If you were part of a family tree with other people, the tree and the other members' own content stay intact — only what you personally added or recorded is removed. A photo you uploaded of another family member is kept, since it belongs to their profile.
7. Your choices
- Export: you can download a copy of everything you've saved at any time, from Settings.
- Delete: you can close your account and delete your data at any time, from Settings — see above for how that works.
- Send to more people and delete: you can send a memory to more people, or delete a message you wrote for everyone, at any time (it can be brought back for 30 days).
- Hide: you can hide a message someone else wrote from your own screens only.
- Leave: you can leave a family tree you joined, which ends the mutual visibility.
- Mute: you can mute a family member so their messages stop alerting you.
- Block: you can block another family member from seeing your content or contacting you.
- Report: you can report a memory or a person if something seems wrong. A report is kept so that a person can look at it; nothing is removed automatically, and we do not promise a time for a reply.
- Language and notifications: both can be changed at any time in Settings.
8. Third parties we rely on
- Cloudflare — hosts our servers, database, and file storage.
- Expo — passes push notifications on to Apple and Google.
- Apple and Google — deliver push notifications to your phone and handle subscription billing for their respective app stores.
- Our SMS delivery provider — sends the verification code text when you add or sign in with a phone number.
We don't use any other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking service.
9. Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian may add a family member's profile to their own tree, including a minor's name, photo, or birth year — that information is entered and controlled by the parent or guardian, not by the child. If you believe a child has created their own account, contact us and we'll remove it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, where required, notify you in the app.
